  A lucky thing my woman took me here while we were out. The gem of a restaurant has surprised me in the best kind of way. First of all the service is amazing. I personally felt very welcomed and the staff genuinely appeared to want us there (which can be harder to find these days). The food was beyond my expectations, fresh and very flavorful. The flavors indeed tasted like the food was actually prepared and not just poured out of a jar. Most importantly to me, the food did not taste the same as most Chinese food restaurants, the ginger beef for instance actually tasted like it was made with fresh ginger. The meat was not full of grit or fat, and in my opinion, the ingredients were of superior quality. The price was more then reasonable, especially with the quality of food and service. The decoration was also quaint and the overall experience was a very enjoyable one. I will return to what I consider hands down the best Asian cuisine in Cranbrook.

  I'm not even sure that my food was edible. The rice was hard and the "pork" was a weird grey colour with a jelly-esque texture. I had a good experience here when I was going to Baker, almost 5 years ago. But now the only thing the Lucky Star has going for it is the nice Chinese lady that barely spoke enough English to take my order.
